A Peace Pledge

Peace Pledge We the community of Our Lady of Lourdes School, realize that peace must start within us. We commit ourselves; as best we can, to become nonviolent and peaceable people. Please respond "I do" We pledge: To respect Ourselves and Others - to avoid criticism, hateful words, physical attacks and other destructive behaviors, and to always be affirming. ALL - "I Do" To communicate effectively - to share our feelings honestly, and work at solving problems peacefully. ALL - "I do" To Listen - to consider the ideas, opinions and feelings of others, and to be open to different viewpoints. ALL - "I do" To forgive - to apologize and make restitution for hurts we may have caused, and to let go of grudges. ALL - "I do" To respect Life - - To reverence our environment and all creatures with responsibility and care. ALL - " I do" To voice Challenge - To speak out against violence wherever we encounter it, and stand with those who are treated unfairly. ALL - "I do" This is our pledge. On this 10th day of September 2004, we pledge to eliminate violence and model peace in word and action, one day at a time, one school at a time, starting with our own, beginning with ourselves.
