~     Star Telegram     ~

On Sunday September 10 2006, Jessie Milligan of "Star Telegram" published a research report about 9/11 under the heading "9.10.01 The Last Ordinary Day in America".
Here is what was written about you:

" The Monitor Group employs many star performers, but Waleed Iskandar, 34, is a standout, even among the stars.
Few match Waleed's drive. He's a strapping young man whose personal accomplishments include traveling for two months in South American rainforests, studying with monks in India, bicycling from San Francisco to Southern California and going on safari in Africa.
Since arriving in the United States in 1984 from his native Beirut, the Lebanese Catholic graduated from Stanford and Harvard, joined The Monitor Group, worked in its Middle Eastern and Korean operations and established its Istanbul office.
He likes inline skating. He loves yoga. He water skis. He is hard to keep up with, but Nicolette Cavaleros, a Monitor Group marketing manager, is on her way to doing just that.
The two plan a hiking trip on the Pakistani leg of the Silk Road, the ancient trade route from China to the Mediterranean Sea. They are to marry next summer.
On this day, Waleed speeds through his work. He heads the Cambridge company's European digital programs. The couple, who live in London, are in the Boston area for business, staying with Waleed's brother, Sany Iskandar.
Waleed can't wait to get to California to see his parents. Nicolette begs him to slow down, to take a later flight. She can't leave until at least Tuesday afternoon, and she wants to fly with him. Waleed won't be dissuaded from taking Flight 11 to Los Angeles in the morning."

Thank you Jessie Milligan for remembering our son.

~      "M y D a i l y P r a y e r"     ~

Teach me, my Lord, to be sweet and gentle in all the events of life
in disappointments,
in the thoughtlessness of others,
in the insincerity of those I trusted
in the unfaithfulness of those on whom
I relied.

Let me put myself aside,
to think of the happiness of others,
to hide my little pains and heartaches,
so that I may be the only one to suffer from them.

Teach me to profit by the suffering that comes across my path.
Let me so use it that it may mellow me, not harden nor embitter me.
that it may make me patient, not irritable.
that it may make me broad in my forgiveness, not narrow, haughty and over-bearing.

May no one be less good for having come within my influence.
No one less pure, less true, less kind, less noble for having been a fellow-traveler in our journey toward
ETERNAL LIFE.

As I go my rounds from one distraction to another,
let me whisper from time to time, a word of love to Thee.
May my life be lived in the supernatural, full of power for good, and strong in its purpose of sanctity.
Amen!

~      A visit to Lebanon     ~

We visited Lebanon from November 5 to November 23. On our way to Beirut, we passed by London and met Nicolette. She gave me new photos of you which I have never seen before. Here they are :

* First Photo
* Second Photo
* Third Photo
* Fourth Photo
In Lebanon, Lillian Hallak took us with Adel and Simone to a Greek Orthodox Monastery which is cut in a mountain. It is located in "Kadisha" river basen. Its name is "Our Lady of Hamatoura".
It is an old monks' retreat. One wonders how can such a monastery be built in such a place?
The road was so tiring and we were not prepaired for the hectic walk. So we did not get inside of the monastery. We promised ourselves to make the visit during our next trip to the Lebanon, hopefully next year. Lillian is planning to buy a donkey which will carry her up the mountain.
Here are some photos of the Monastry:
* View of the location
* The road leading to the Monastery
* The road leading to the Monastery
* A sign on the road
* A sign in the road
Thank you Lillian.

~      Psychiatric Hospital of the Cross     ~

We visited the "Psychiatric Hospital of the Cross" in Deir As-Saleeb. It is being run by The Congregation of the Lebanese Franciscan Sisters of the Cross. The Congregation was founded by Abuna Yaacub, an apostle of Mercy, in 1930.
After his death the congregation continued his mission.
You can read about this congregation here.
We were so much impressed by what the sisters of the Cross are doing.
May the Lord bless them and help them to go on with what they are doing.

~      The Sixth Christmas Since Your Departure!     ~

December 25, the day Jesus was born.
This year we are lighting the tree in your garden.
It has been five years since we had a Christmas tree inside the house. Ever since you left us, we did not have our home decorated neither from the inside nor from the outside, like the rest of the houses on Wystone Avenue. We cannot see ourselves celebrating Christmas without you amongst us.
We celebrate Christmas with our prayers to the Lord for Love, Peace, Tolerance and Understanding in the world. These are the teachings of Jesus Christ.

"The Light of God Surrounds Me,
The Love of God Enfolds Me,
The Power of God Protects Me,
The Presence of God Watches Over Me,
Wherever I am, God is."

~      A New Year is starting (2007)      ~

2007, a New Year is starting. I hope it will be a better year than 2006. I pray peace will prevail in all the World.
I would like to quote one member of the "Families of September 11" organization:

"Healing comes from actions.
Action that honors the memory of the loved ones and instills hope in oneself and others.

~      American Family Children's Hospital      ~

On July 26 we will fly to Madison, Wisconsin. Your Mom and I will attend the inauguration of the "American Family Children's Hospital" on Friday July 27.
With your cousin Benny, we have donated to the hospital to have a plaque in your name be affixed to one room. Your memory will be remembered for ever.

May the Lord bless your soul.

~      You will be remembered in Madison      ~

On July 27 2007, we attended the inauguration ceremony of the "American Family Children Hospital" in Madison, WI. It was a heart warming magnificent night. It was a night filled with Love and charity, bigheartedness and openhandedness, kindness and bounteousness. We could smell love in the air that we breathed.
We visited all the five stories of the hospital with your cousin Benny and his wife Jenny. We were elated with what we saw. We visited the room on the fifth floor, No. 5414, that is named after you. We can read your name next to the door. Your memory will be remembered forever

May the Lord bless your soul.
