~    September 11, 2005     ~

Four years have passed since that woeful day in September. All this time, you have never been away from our minds. But your Mom and I have noticed a change in our feelings
Before, we thought of you with a tear in our eyes. Now, we think of you with a smile on our face. Before, we used to think of you and mourn your death. Now, we think of you and celebrate your life on earth. We remember the beautiful memories that you have left us. We remeber you and thank the Lord for the 34 years we enjoyed your presence in our life.

It is loving GOD and living in HIM that taught us how to find life again.

We gave a mass in our Parish in your sweet memory. All those present prayed for the Lord to rest your soul in PEACE.
After mass, your Mom and I visited "San Fernando Mission Mortuary", where we put four roses in the flower vase of your niche.

~    Garden of Foregiveness     ~

On Thursday November 10 an olive tree was planted in Beirut Lebanon in a piece of land that is donated by "Solidare S.A.L". It will be known as "Sahit Alsamah", or "Garden of Forgiveness".
You can read more about it here.
A Memorial for the victims of September 11 will be built on the same lot.
An international competition is being called for to design the Memorial. The person overlooking this thoughtful project is Mrs. Alexandra Asseily.
Here is a photo of the olive tree:

~    A Visit to your Niche     ~

Your cousin Raoul came to visit us in Northridge. He asked to go and visit your niche at the "San Fernando Mission Cemetery". We took flowers and placed them in the vase. We talked to you and prayed for you.
We all showed how much you are missed.
You are in our thoughts and in our hearts for ever.

~    MBA Fellowship Dinner     ~

On Wednesday April 4 we attended the dinner at Harvard given by HBS for the Fellowship Donors and recipients for the year 2006. This is the first time we Attend. Every year we tried to participate something happens and we cancel.
We met the recipient for the year 2006. His name is Joshua Kuntz. He is a bright young man who reminded me of your Harvard colleagues.
Sany was with us. But Christine had a last minute errand to do for your nephew and nieces. So she could not join us.
Walking along the pathways of Harvard brought back the memories of the times we used to stroll on these pathways together.

They were beautiful times!!

~    A Mystic Friend     ~

Cathryn, a mystic friend, was searching for the poem of Henry Scott Holland about death. She stumbled on your website. Your story touched her heart. So, she wrote me a condolence message.
She, herself, had lost her husband twelve years ago. She is still recovering from that heavy loss. She is writing a book on dealing with grief, which will be published hopefully soon. I am looking forward to read it. She too believes in Peace, Love and Forgiveness.
You have another friend that you have never met.

~    1700 days     ~

Hi Waleed!
Today marks the 1700th day since you left us for ever.
Last Sunday we met a classmate of yours during your stay at Stanford. Her name is Clara. She related to us some stories and memories of yours. It was nice of her to phone us and to ask us for lunch. We enjoyed her company and her stories.
Sister Maria joined us and met Clara too. She told us that she is always asking for your prayers and intercessions.
She is a friend for ever.

~    Father's Day 2006     ~

Hi Waleed!
Today, I missed your call!
I missed your "Father's Day" greeting card.
You used to phone me and wish me a "HAPPY FATHER's DAY". You used to send me a greeting card. I used to appreciate that a lot.
But, I did receive two phone calls today, one from your brother and one from your sister.
We miss you a lot!
Dad

~    Stanford University     ~

Ronald is attending summer school at Stanford University. He is seventeen years old. He was sent an invitation to attend summer school for eight weeks. He did apply by filling the application forms. He was accepted.
You were seventeen when you attended the same university twenty two years ago. Those were beautiful days. We enjoyed visiting you in Palo Alto. You left us plenty of memories to treasure
Both your nephews Ronald and Joseph are eying Stanford University for their graduate school.
They sure will think of you a lot then.
