~     Requiem    ~

November 2, All Souls day:

Today, Father Sean Cronin gave a special Requiem Mass in memory of all the dead people of our Parish. It was a very beautiful Mass. His Homely was about Death and the ever lasting life. Every word he said reminded me of Waleed.
Thank you Father
At the end of the Mass, the "In Paradisum" was sang.

May the Angels lead you into paradise;
may the martyrs greet you at your arrival and lead you into the holy city,
Jerusalem.

May the choir of Angels greet you and like Lazarus,
who once was a poor man, may you have eternal rest.

~     Sail for America    ~

The postman, this afternoon, delivered to our mailbox a big envelop. Inside of it, there was the flag of Waleed that was flown on the boat in New York on September 14, 2002, when "Sail for America" organized a special sail in memory of all those who died on September 11, 2001.
The Sail was very successful. The flags later were given to the families of the lost ones.

Please visit their web site at http://www.sailforamerica.com

~     Utah Flags    ~

Utah Flags

My friend Carolyn sent me a message with this picture.
The picture was taken on the mall in front of the Sandy, Utah City Hall.
It was the way that Salt Lake City wanted to honor the dead of black Tuesday, September 11, 2001 with.
There are 3031 flags, each representing one victim.
I never saw the picture or heard of the event before.
Thank you Carolyn

~     Meeting for Families of September 11 Victims    ~

Anita Ahuja, Executive Liaison for the CA Victim Compensation and Government Board in Sacramento, arranged a new Meeting for September 11 Family Members and Survivors. The date was November 23. We had Dr. Alicia Boccellari and Mr. Greg Merrill from UC San Francisco conducting the meeting. For the first time, since we started these meetings, I could speak about Waleed without having a lump in my throat. I related a story that used to happen often.
Whenever Samia and I wanted to go to the cinema and we found ourselves in a dilemma to which movie to see, we used to ask Waleed about his favorite movies for that week. The ones that he named, we used to cross out.
His taste in movies were just the opposite of our taste.
These meetings are of great help to both of us.

After this meeting, we came to recognize that we are now in the stage that follows the acceptance of Waleed's death.

We are learning how to live with that fact.
