Waleed J. Iskandar

Rest in Peace

Eulogy
(given by May Marconet)

A few of my thoughts about my brother Waleed
Waleed is my little brother. He is also my hero and my idol.
He has the most amazing outlook on the world, the most-easy going, caring, compassionate and friendly personality and the most brilliant mind. I have always known that Waleed is a step above all the rest of us.

What I admire most about my brother is his incredible zest for life.
Waleed lives his life to the fullest every single day.
And while he was off on his extraordinary adventures and travels, there I would be in exciting Northridge, worrying about him.
To ease my worries, I would say a prayer and remind myself that ultimately our lives are in God’s hands.
That same thought can bring comfort to us now. God wanted Waleed by his side and that is why he is gone.

I keep thinking about our wonderful times together, the holidays, the ski trips, and our great family vacations.
From the time when we were kids and were fighting over the beds in the hotel, until now as adults, living in different parts of the world, when our family vacations became an opportunity for us to catch up on each other’s lives.
(And thankfully by then we had stopped fighting over the beds.)
We have lots and lots of beautiful memories in our hearts and lots of beautiful pictures in our homes.
Waleed, I will be thinking of you, and smiling every day for ever…
